Today’s business presentation is what teachers need. This morning, a student from Vietnam named Hoan discussed a topic which always stirs every people’s mind. Although this idea isn’t a new at all, we, people, or teachers, or me if you may have it, still treat this topic as vague as our future. I know you’re dying to hear this, it’s all about personal financial management plan. Does this ring a bell? Yes, it’s all about money, money, money… I really like how he started his report. He asked us if who among of us like to become a millionaire, and of course, we all raised our hands including teachers and students. Who wouldn’t like to become one?
After that, he narrated how different his life now compare to his previous “poor” life. I don’t know if the term “poor” should be used, but according to him, when he was asked by T. Lori if how poor he is, he was so poor that he couldn’t even eat a single meal. I mean I have never experienced that before even though we are really poor. I grew up in a small village where nature helps its people, I mean I was raised eating our own planted crops like “camote” (sweet potato), and vegetables which are just planted in our backyards, so even though we don’t have money to buy food we can still see the sunlight in the next morning. In other words, maybe I was just too lucky than him because I survived. However, my life is too way far than before, so I should stop this life narration and go on to our main topic.
Where are we? Ah! Yeap! How to become a millionaire. He then mentioned the ways to become one. Honestly, I can’t recall now all the principle that he explained, but there is one statement that I should, ought to, must remember and reiterate on my mind, and that has he said that “ habit is much, much, more, more important than anything else”. It doesn’t matter how little money you save at the beginning as long as you train yourself to save and by that, you are already starting to condition your mind until you are already used to it. He also showed us a picture of how to divide our income by different labels or allotment. It’s like a budget of different kinds of spending. In the picture, they are 6 jars in total which is shown under.

He said that we can start having just 1 jar if our income isn’t that big, and little by little we can start another jar at a time. I’m hoping that I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life and remind myself of changing my habits for good. As what Hoan said, we should not start tomorrow or next week but only today, and so as our habit. Avoid procrastinating, everyone!
