My Quarantine Story: Things I do during social distancing era

Here's what I do to kick out boredom and relieve anxiety, hopefully, during this unexpected situation.

1. Cooking

Back in the Philippines, I know how to fry eggs and dried fish, og sugba og buwad. I also know how to make adobo but mostly si mama ra jud and magluto pirmi. So, when I came here, mi level up na gamay akoang cooking skills, since I don't have a choice but to cook for myself and at first, it's not perfect but after many practices, I able to follow the recipes.

My sweet and sour drumstick and buttered shrimp
Filipino Style Spaghetti, but that dumplings are not mine but they are homemade too. :)

These look so easy for other people, but I am proud to say that I learned to cook them by myself with of course the help of social media.

2. Baking

I am a neophyte about baking, but there's no harm in trying. So, I bought my small oven and started to learn baking.

3. Learning

Thanks to technology we don't feel very bored at home, we can still connect to our friends and family via messenger or Facebook. However, Facebook can be a good source to learn and improve our skills. As a teacher, I want to be kept updated with the latest techniques and strategies about teaching.

American English for Educators offers free webinars and online courses for all. Teachers can participate and study with them and what's great about this is that after the course we can get free badges on webinars and certificates through Canvas Network.

I am also trying to learn to trade. It's very complex but I think it is great to try new things.

This is one of my badges.

4. Online Teaching

As I have told you, I am worried that I might not get enough salary during this pandemic. Although I am teaching online ever since, right now because I have more vacant time, why not look for more students right? So, my income will still flow. If you are looking for an online job, you can join a Facebook group for jobs ad and inquiries.

5. Exercising

YES! Exercise dai! Kapoy dai!

I don't hate exercise but I don't love it either. But we do need it, I need it, so we should include this in our schedule. I know eating is easier than this but I don't want to get heavier after this lockdown ( honestly, I think I am really getting bigger ), so I have to exercise. SO DO YOU!

We can try Zumba dance or other ways to keep fit. Just don't stop!

5. Meditating and Praying

I have already known meditation before since college, but lately, I have tried to do it more often.

I have insomnia and this helps me at least to sleep soundly. In the beginning, you notice that your mind wanders a lot but later on your mind will be relaxed as well as your body. It sounds boring, but I'll tell you there's no harm on trying.

6. Watching Movies or Kdramas

Drama is life but Kdrama is lifer, right? Does anybody know The World of The Married Couples or The King: Eternal Monarch? I spare maybe 2-3 hours of my time watching the latest episodes of these Kdramas. My Lee Min Ho, oppa, is still handsome as always, and makalagot and bana ni Dr. Ji Sun-woo ayy..

Besides Kdrama, I also like watching some movies or series from Netflix. My favorites are Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why, You and of course, Money Heist!

Those are activities I do to keep my life now busy and productive. I am not saying that I do all these activities every day but it's better to do things than keep lying on my bed. Soon, I will share to you if I have found new ways to keep productive.

Thanks for reading.

Bella ciao, ciao, ciao
