One year and two months have already passed but I am still enjoying my life as an "Alien' teacher. Not that I am really an alien, but I am somewhat kind of alien for them- my students. I am teaching as English teacher now in an ESL school here in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. This is my first job as an adult, so I really want to enjoy this milestone of my life. Life as an ESL teacher is pretty much like what I expected, except the amount of compensation of which too way opposite of what I thought, but let's not dwell of that. Let's discuss what I have enjoyed as a teacher.
First thing, I enjoy talking to different people from other part of Asia. Learning how to deal with varied of personalities is such an achievement. Though I am not an behavior expert yet (which I really don't want to be), I learn how to socialize and interact with them. Hearing great and odd stories are one of my enjoyment.
Next, I am fond of leisure activities like what is shown in the pictures. Every last Friday of the month, our school organizes English month of which in the afternoon, there are no classes. Teachers and students are gathered to watch dancing, singing and other talents, such as play. As you don't know, I like moving my body, I mean aside from a desperate singer, I am really a self-claimed dancer. I know this confession is quite embarrassing but, yeah, give me permission to say this but I'm really good at dancing than singing. Well, I can say that I'm not out of tune, but dancing is really fun for me(LOL). I often join whenever my section has to present a dance for the program, so if I want to embarrass myself, then I won't hesitate to join.
In addition, I like working with my section. My section, I must say, is a diverse section. Because of that, we somewhat get along with each other, even though I have little adjustments at first. Each section has 20 rooms and 20 teachers. In our section, we have two lovable people who give us fun atmosphere and full energy. Aside from that, we agreed to one goal-- win every championships in our school. Tell you what, we haven't failed yet. In fact, we won two contests consecutively.
Lastly, I have been interested in English since then, so I like the fact that I can teach and practice English as well. This job helps my English improves at the same time. It's like hitting two or more birds in one stone.
